We have two strands to our research: the AI Governance Report and research commissioned by clients.

The AI Governance Report

Preparations are underway for the 2025 AI Governance Report which will uncover how much has changed – or not – since our 2022 report. With the advent of easily accessible generative AI tools, the interest in AI has sky-rocketed, but too many leaders are still unclear about how to harness the power of this technology. Controls and adequate governance are still missing from many organisations, leading to damaging mistakes when using AI. Our AI governance research will reveal the size of the problem and suggest what can be done to close the gaps in knowledge and action.

The 2022 AI Governance Report

The 2022 AI Governance Report revealed how ready Boards were to control the use of AI in their organisations.

We surveyed over 700 leaders from all sectors in the summer of 2022 to provide the insights for this first of its kind report.

The Report provided policy makers, organisation leaders and executive education providers with clarity on the preparedness of leaders to govern the use of AI in their organisations.  The AI governance research was not just about theory; there were also four case studies to inspire action.

The 2022 AI Governance Report was inspired by the third pillar of the then UK Government’s National AI Strategy which sought to establish an AI governance framework within a light touch regulatory environment. To deliver this, organisation leaders need to know about and use frameworks, standards and best practice in how they govern AI use in their organisations and supply chains. As our Report showed, leaders needed to understand what AI is, how to use it and how to control it if the Government’s light-touch approach to regulation was to be effective.
