We were pleased to see progress on global AI governance in Hiroshima, with a commitment from G7 states to collaborate to explore a unified approach to the issues.
The Hiroshima AI process recognises that countries will need some flexibility to take their own detailed approach on regulating AI, but that there should also be common global standards for “responsible AI”. We’ll keep a close eye on what they come up with, and how fast they work, as the need for some controls – and guidance – on AI use is urgent.
